FRUITIONWhen the Jazz Police first invaded & pervaded,FRUITION
threw me arms up-rump out against the wall,
I spoke of my book & my fame.
Too many years later with little to show but my infamy,
my tongue awfully loose,
circling the circle --
so vicious, so lovely --
I am the dot, I said.
I am the radius.
& I say, today,
the pang more satisfying than feeding it.
I hate, because I love.
I fight, because I love.
& I will not trade in my ills,
nor mask them with what's inside orange plastic vials.
My birth a gift I am just beginning to recognize.
